Anastasia and Mykola…Simply stunning, Michael Mowbray, Madison Wedding Photographer

To say I am honored when a photographer asks me to photograph their wedding would be an understatement.  When I also count that family among my friends, I feel doubly blessed.  And when I’m given free rein to just “create”, heck yeah! I first photographed Anastasia and Mykola when they graciously volunteered to be my model couple for a class I was teaching for Wisconsin Professional Photographers Association.  They were fun to work with and we managed to create some really cool images under the constraints of a teaching workshop.  Anastasia is the daughter of Frank and Judy Strukel who own Strukel Photography in Sheboygan, good friends of mine from our years as members of WPPA.

Anastasia was stunning in her feathered wedding dress, and she knows how to rock a pose.  Mykola made for a tall, handsome groom, and despite his quiet and shy demeanor, I learned he could be a bit of a rascal based on some of the toasts at the reception.   After the ceremony in the beautiful St. Joseph church in Appleton, we cruised to Lawrence University for some cool location shots. Then we wrapped up the day with the reception at Outer Limits, one of the best lit reception venues I have ever encountered.  All in all it was a stunning day!

Tricia and Chris…Accounting on love.

The numbers add up :  Tricia and Chris will have a wonderful new life together!  Since they’re both numbers peeps (I do believe Chris used an algorithm to help him pick out the engagement ring), how could their love account not be in balance?  What a great wedding and a super fun couple.  We start with getting ready and the first glance at Dahlman Campus Inn, then hopped on a school bus for some PBRs (had to balance off the elegance of everything else) and a trip to the Union and Bascomb.  We moved on to the Overture Center for a beautiful ceremony conducted by Connie Engman followed by the reception in the main lobby hall at Overture.

Christy and Jim…A custom-made wedding day

Since we started the day off in Roxbury I thought about titling this post “A Day at THE Roxbury”.  But somehow that really didn’t fit.  LOL.  (If you don’t get the joke, it’s a reference to the old Will Ferrell/Chris Katan Saturday Night Live sketch and movie “Night at the Roxbury”).  Nope, this was a classy, elegant day — custom-made for Christy and Jim, including the wedding dress that Christy’s mom, Dorothy, hand-made for her.  Dorothy also made the matching junior bridesmaid dress.  Christy’s dad, Clarence, got in on the act by serving as the wedding planner throughout the process.  I think everyone involved did an amazing job.  Kudos!

Courtney and Sal…Cozy in the Canyon…Michael Mowbray, Madison Wedding Photographer

I think I found a new favorite place for weddings in the Dells…Coldwater Canyon.  It’s a beautiful setting for a small wedding, and it was a perfect spot for Courtney and Salvador’s big day.  And what better way to end the day than with a sunset reception cruise on a Dells Boat Tour boat!
