Emilie and Jim…A beautiful day…Michael Mowbray, Madison Wedding Photographer

Emilie and Jim picked the perfect day to end with a reception at the Union, as is evidenced by one of my favorite photos from this year (see below). We started the day at Our Lady Queen of Peace, then swung by the Capitol for some classic Beautiful Portraits wedding images.  Their cute little puppy even got in on the action.  We wrapped the day at the Great Hall in the UW Memorial Union, capped off by one of the best wedding party dances ever!

Hi Alysia and Matt

I just saw your comment on my blog post regarding photographing at the Union. Sorry for the delay…I’ve been out of town speaking at a photography conference in Oklahoma. Yes, I have photographed there many, many times and I know it well. I’d be happy to chat with you further. Just shoot me an email or give me a call at 608-279-4424.

Thanks!

Caryn and Adam…Vintage love at the Overture Center…Michael Mowbray, Madison Wedding Photographer

With her bird cage veil and red lipstick, Caryn made a stunning vintage bride. Add in Adam with his clean-cut look and classic tuxedo and bow tie and you have one classy couple.  It doesn’t matter that one is a Red Sox fan and the other is a Brewers fan…I won’t name names.  And how can you go wrong with the ceremony and reception on the main floor of the Overture Center?  It’s the best light in any venue in town…I wish I could bottle it and have it for every wedding.:)

Jessica and Kevin….Making hay while the sun shines…Michael Mowbray, Madison Wedding Photographer

What started off as a slightly cool overcast day at a little country church outside Mt Horeb pretty much turned into a scorcher by the time we left the church to head to the farm for some cool shots with silos, tractors and hay bales.  Good thing that I was having a good old hay fever attack that day…not!  LOL.  Fortunately I was able to create some really fun images in between sniffles.  We ended the day with a lovely reception at Edelweiss Country Club in the rolling green hills of New Glarus.  Scroll down through the collage and you’ll find one of my favorite images from this year that I took on the “other” bridge (the golf pro suggested a different bridge, which I found kind of boring…look at my take on the “other” bridge and you’ll see why).

Kristen and Luke…Vintage love at Lake Windsor…Michael Mowbray, Madison WI wedding photographer

Kristen and Luke managed to keep the rain away on their big day at Lake Windsor Golf Club, but in turn they made quite a few tears fall during their wedding.  There were moments where not a dry eye could be found in the crowd, and that made photographing their wedding that much more special when we could capture and experience the emotion of the day. The special details were fabulous, too, and were topped off by Grandpa Jim’s immaculate Model A. (They didn’t have to ask me twice if I wanted to work it into photos.)  We even managed to time out an incredible sunset as it fell over the golf course.

Stephen and Bethany…a rare 2-for-1…Michael Mowbray, Madison WI Wedding Photographer

Normally I like a to blog a couple’s engagement session awhile before the wedding.  But….that typically is when I photograph the engagement session a few months before the wedding.  Not the week of the wedding.  LOL.  But, hey, at least we got it in prior to the wedding.:) And it was an exciting engagement session, especially when a maintenance truck tried to back over me when I was creating some images behind the Red Gym on campus.  No worries…I’m fine, but I am hoping that I dented the truck.  Sheesh.  That could have ended badly.  Thanks to my cat-like reflexes and incredible spidey senses I was able to sense danger, catapult off the truck and leap to safety in a fraction of second.  Well, at least that’s how I like to remember it.  Stephen and Beth will likely back me up, though.  Below is the highlight video of their images from the e-session.

First Presbyterian Church in Waunakee, we jaunted into Madison for some Capitol shots and one of my trademark “Walkabouts”.  The big day wrapped up at the Waunakee Community Center with a fun reception and some stunning sunset shots.  Enjoy!
