One of the side benefits of photographing weddings is that not only do I get to work with great young couples, I also get to meet some great families, too. When you meet their families and friends you can see why Ericka and Garrett turned out so well. Ericka and Garrett are UW sweethearts that tied the knot on yet another hot day this summer — aren’t they all? At least they’re used to this heat since they moved to Texas for Garrett’s job: Tight end for the Houston Texans in the NFL. Pretty cool gig. Ericka is from the area and played basketball for the UW women’s team. So, yep, their kids will probably be pretty awesome, too.
Because of their Badger connections, we got to shoot around Camp Randall stadium for a bit and tested out the brand new sports turf. I gotta tell you, it’s a little weird and spongy, and smells like Farm & Fleet (from all of the little bits of ground up tires that help make it softer). We wrapped up the day with an elegant reception at Monona Terrace followed by a dance featuring top area band, Madison County. It was a Buckyful day!
